Tenchi Muyo

The story of Tenchi Muyo:

This is a story of a normal boy who ends up getting involved in space battles he never knew existed. Tenchi Masaki lives in a normal house and his grandfather quite often spends time in the Masaki Shrine, which is located on a hill just up a few outdoor steps from the house. Tenchi does simple farmwork until he meets Ryoko, who is being chased by a so called "space pirate". Tenchi eventually finds out that the "space pirate" is actually a galaxy police officer named Mihoshi, and that Ryoko is the pirate. As time goes on, Tenchi runs into Ayeka, who is the princess of a planet called Jurai to whom Tenchi is related by royal blood, her younger sister Sasami, who is also a princess of Jurai, Kiyone, who is Mihoshi's partner, and Washu, who is a scientific genius but her inventions sometimes don't work correctly....... Anyway, they all develop a special liking for Tenchi and often fight over him.

The funny thing is the way Tenchi is stuck in the middle, doesen't understand, and just wonders how he ever got tied up in this. Ryoko and Ayeka especially get in fights more than anyone, but Sasami is very good-natured and stays calm amognst all the arguing and trying to prove eachother wrong. Also, though he is still learning how to control it, Tenchi has a special power that comes from Juraian blood which allows him to use a beam sword. He often takes swordfighting lessons from his grandfather because that is their tradition, and though his grandfather is old, he shows his skill with the sword throughout the series.
